Felix's Birthday and what I said at the funeral...

Created by Abi 8 years ago
Today is Felix's birthday.
Everything is still a bit raw.
Felix was always amused that I lived in another country: Scotland!
Today a storm is passing over, the sea is wild with white-topped waves and the gale blows through the flat with an eerie whistle. The world is a picture in black, grey and white. Driftwood, flotsam, gathers on the beach.

This is some what I said at the funeral...

"You know my Dad. He's the Dad who imagined us going to the beach together - him to drink beer and me to build the biggest castle in the world - and write Xanadu in the sand...
I've been thinking about fathers and daughters, daughters and their fathers...
Just right now, this is how that feels..."
Emily Dickinson
I held a Jewel in my fingers -
And went to sleep -
The day was warm, and winds were prosy -
I said "Twill keep" -

I woke - and chid my honest fingers,
The gem was gone -
And now, an Amethyst remembrance
Is all I own
